SMMC is the first and only hospital in the Kansas City metropolitan area to receive this certification.
MERRIAM, Kan. – Larry Botts, MD, has been named Chief Medical Officer at Shawnee Mission Medical Center (SMMC). Botts, a pulmonologist, has been a member of SMMC’s medical staff since 1984 and will begin his new role on June 1.

The Center broke its own birth record in 2010, bringing 3,912 newborns into the world. In addition, the Center birthed its 100,000th baby in November.
