Discover the Difference
The Center for Pain Medicine uses advanced technologies that provide patients with more options for pain management. Learn more about Shawnee Mission Health's state-of-the art treatment options below:
Nevro Approach—Alternative Spinal Cord Simulation (SCS)
Shawnee Mission Health is proud to offer Nevro’s innovative HF10 therapy as an alternative to traditional SCS treatment. HF10 therapy is proven to provide more relief from chronic back and leg pain without the discomfort of tingling or unexpected shocks found in traditional SCS treatment. Radio Frequency Ablation (RF)
RF is a non-surgical, minimally-invasive, non-narcotic method for treating chronic knee or hip pain. Because it can be performed in an outpatient setting, patients have the potential to return to an enhanced quality of life much sooner than with surgery—and with a reduced need for narcotics.
Meet Our Team of Specialists
Our physicians have been treating patients with painful conditions since 1969. All of our specialists are Board-certified and American Board of Anesthesia (ABA) sub-specialty certified in pain management, with advanced training in diagnosing and treating acute and chronic pain of the spine and musculoskeletal systems. Our team also includes a full-time clinical psychologist who specializes in treating the psychological effects of dealing with chronic pain.
A Referral for Pain Management
The Center for Pain Medicine accepts patient referrals from primary care physicians and specialists. We work with your physician in a team effort. Each new patient will have a comprehensive history and physical exam performed. Other tools such as pain scales, diagrams, and skeletal models will be used to help us thoroughly understand your pain.
