MERRIAM, Kan. – The exit ramp to 75th Street from northbound I-35 will temporarily close beginning Monday, March 19, at 9 a.m. due to road construction. Crews will complete tie-in work to the new 75th Street collector-distributor ramp system, which includes the existing "tunnel to nowhere." The project is expected to take 90 days and the ramp will re-open on June 20, weather permitting.
Although Shawnee Mission Medical Center will still be easily accessible, advance message boards will alert drivers to the ramp closure and a marked detour will be provided. Northbound I-35 traffic will detour either via eastbound 67th Street to southbound Antioch Road to 75th Street, or via eastbound 87th Street to northbound Antioch Road to 75th Street. In addition, drivers may choose to travel on Frontage Road.
Updated daily traffic information for this project can be viewed online at ksdot.org/kcmetro/laneclose.asp.
