Shawnee Mission Medical Center (SMMC) is located in Merriam, Kan., a suburb of Kansas City. Situated in the heart of America, the area is rich in cultural, sports and entertainment venues. Johnson County provides the natural beauty of wooded parks and rolling hills and is home to some of the finest housing and public schools in the country.
SMMC is a 504-bed, non-profit community hospital specializing in minimally invasive procedures, heart and vascular health, behavioral health and women's health. In addition, the Medical Center features an extensive network of ambulatory clinics and has one of the busiest emergency departments in the area. The hospital is located near two colleges of pharmacy, which allow our staff to be involved in the education of future pharmacists.
The Department of Pharmacy consists of more than 40 associates who provide care to patients via eight satellite pharmacies, one outpatient pharmacy and a pharmacist-managed anticoagulation clinic in a large family-practice clinic.
Our staff sets Shawnee Mission Medical Center apart from other institutions. We value the unique contributions of each individual and know that a concerned, caring attitude is vital to the healing process.
With the support of today’s sophisticated technology, our dedicated staff treats patients, family members, visitors, and colleagues with integrity, care, and respect.
Guided by our mission and values, the work of Shawnee Mission Medical Center associates exemplifies a spirit of service and commitment to excellence. The hospital is affiliated with the Adventist Health System.
