Continuing education programs are offered free or at significantly reduced costs

SMMC is an approved provider of nursing continuing education in the State of Kansas. The Professional Development Department offers many courses each year to support the development of our professional staff. Education programs are offered in traditional classroom settings and online via our Computer Based Learning program (CBL).

The most recent addition to our support for continuing education is CE Direct. Full-time and part-time nurses employed at SMMC are provided access to CE Direct and PearlsReview, online programs for continuing education.

This easy, web-based approach to learning provide unlimited access to more than 500 top-quality Nursing Spectrum CE courses, available via online e-learning courses, podcast audio courses and magazine article courses. The programs can be accessed from any computer, at work or at home, with web access. The program offers:

  • Over 500 award-winning, easy-to-read, narrative style online courses with graphics, live links to other relevant internet sites, and simple navigation that requires no training.
  • 1,000 nursing certification prep course topics, live lecture courses and an inventory of 600 textbook topics with quick access to information related to the point of care.
  • PearlsReview prepares nurses to take their certification exams with confidence and achieve the gold standard in nursing certification in their practice specialty.
