SMH First in KC to Offer Procedure for Tendon-Related Injuries

Shawnee Mission Health (SMH) is first in the Kansas City metropolitan area to offer a new procedure called Tenex Health TX™ to help patients with tendon-related injuries get back to the game, run again and live a more pain-free life.

Developed at the Mayo Clinic, Tenex Health TX™ is a revolutionary technique designed to remove damaged soft-tendon tissue that is the source of tendon-related pain. The procedure is quick, minimally invasive and offers rapid recovery for patients suffering from such conditions as Plantar Fasciitis, Tennis Elbow, Runner’s Knee and more. Mark Clifft, MD, SMH Interventional Radiologist, is the first and only physician in the Kansas City area to perform the procedure.

Using ultrasound technology, a toothpick-sized instrument called the TX MicroTip™ is gently inserted into the affected area, where it breaks down and removes damaged tissue. This outpatient procedure takes approximately 20 minutes and offers quick recovery times, minimal pain and little scaring or side effects.

For more information or to find out if you are a candidate for the procedure, call 913-676-2094.
