The unknown gift…flipping the switch!

peterDo not neglect your gift, which was given you through a prophetic message when the body of elders laid their hands on you. 1 Tim 4:14

Watering the yard is a pretty common thing in this part of the world. Early morning dosing seems to be most efficient for the plants and for the water supply. Many homes have automatic sprinkler systems which, when working, arise pre-dawn and leave nothing but dewy reminders of their work.

Prior to moving to Kansas, I had never used a sprinkler system but was intrigued when the home we purchased listed one as part of the property.

Still walking the Santa Fe!

Ypeterea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. Ps 23:4

In the 1800’s hundreds of thousands of people walked through the land where today, SMMC is situated. These were people seeking the promise of a better life, a new land in which to settle and flourish. They traveled by foot, on horseback or in the huge Conestoga wagons averaging about 20 miles a day. Walking through the dangerous lands they doubled up their columns for protection so they traveled four deep instead of the normal side by side formation. Worries were a constant companion; anything could end the dream in tragedy. Disease or injury, running out of supplies, equipment failure or attack by thieves or Indians could end it all. They did not know what the day would hold, and the nights were even more fearful, but they knew the hope in their hearts and for many, they trusted God to watch over them.

Steven Covey describes each of these stages in his book, The 7 habits of Highly Effective People, and notes that it is only with intent and choice that you make the journey to maturity, as an individual, family, department, organization or county.
