2009 Nursing Annual Report
At Shawnee Mission Medical Center (SMMC), we pride ourselves on providing a nursing environment where innovative thinking is encouraged and rewarded. The Annual Report is one way SMMC can highlight and thank all our nurses for their hard work and dedication. Our 2009 Nursing Annual Report report, highlights the role SMMC nurses played in ensuring a smooth transition into our new 265,000 square-foot expansion.
The report also features several exciting new approaches to patient care at SMMC, including Condition Help, which allows families to activate the Rapid Response Team; a redesigned shift report process that will soon be implemented hospital-wide; and the recently launched Patient Family Advisory Group in our Women’s and Children’s Unit. Nurses have led the way in developing and implementing these innovative programs, all of which are improving communication between SMMC staff and the patients and families we serve.
