35 Weeks and Counting

Time is getting close! I’m now 35 weeks, a bit uncomfortable and ready to get this baby here! I was just in yesterday for a growth scan and my baby is weighing in at a little over 6 lbs. already. Of course, the sono tech asked if I normally have big babies and I had to laugh with my other two boys sitting in the chairs next to me. I said, “It may not look like these skinny, active boys could have been large babies, but they both tipped the scales. Especially my first.”

Speaking of my first – last Friday, the kindergarten parents were all waiting to pick up the kids after school for the beginning of spring break, and I had the most reassuring conversation with one of his classmate’s father. His wife just delivered their second via C-section and he told me they delivered at Shawnee Mission Medical Center’s (SMMC) new facilities. He couldn’t quit talking about how nice the new building was and what a great experience the entire family had visiting and staying there, even their kindergartener. Talk about a reassuring conversation. I don’t think I had any doubts before but nothing speaks better for a program/company/hospital than word of mouth from happy customers, and I have not heard one single negative thing!

One last note for today. I don’t know if any of you have seen it yet but, if you already know where you are planning on delivering or if you are still trying to decide, there is a great tour video of the new Birth Center out on SMMC’s Facebook page. Really, an in-person tour is the only way to give true justice to the beauty of the building, but the video is a great way to see the rooms and all of the amenities. It is also a great way to share the feel of the building with family members that aren’t here in town. I hope you take a chance to watch.
