Shawnee Mission Health’s Patient Advocate serves as a liaison between patients, families, visitors, hospital staff, providers and administration. Our patient advocate helps facilitate problem resolution and supports the hospital's goal of meeting and exceeding the needs of patients and families.
Please contact a patient advocate to discuss questions about your hospital visit, file a complaint or grievance, or report concerns about care, services or safety issues.
To reach the Patient Advocate Office from inside Shawnee Mission Medical Center (SMMC), call ext. 72155. From outside SMMC, call 913-676-2155. The Patient Advocate is available Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. For assistance outside of normal business hours, please call the hospital operator. Inside SMMC, dial “0”, or from an outside phone call 913-676-2000, and ask for the House Nursing Supervisor.
You have the right to lodge a grievance with any state agency directly, regardless of whether you have first used the hospital’s grievance process.
