We are pleased to present you with our first edition of the Partner Connection e-newsletter to help us achieve that goal. Partner Connection is a monthly publication that will provide information to help you and your associates advise and consult with members of the community on the latest health care trends, new hospital services, medical staff additions and more.

Each of you has been instrumental in helping us achieve our position in the market as the most preferred hospital in Johnson County, and more recently, the most preferred hospital in the Kansas City metropolitan area based on a consumer survey conducted by National Research Corporation. Thank you for playing a key role in helping us achieve this recognition.

Last year was one of the most exciting in the history of Shawnee Mission Medical Center and we are looking forward to another memorable year. We recently marked the one-year anniversary of the opening of our Critical Care Services Expansion, and plans are already in place to begin construction on the top two floors. We will also break ground on a new Special Addition Birth Center soon. 

Additionally, the Shawnee Mission Outpatient Pavilion at K-7 & Prairie Star Parkway opened in the fall of 2008, offering the growing population of western Johnson County the convenience of receiving high quality health care services from Shawnee Mission Medical Center closer to home. The new location offers a wide variety of health care services including a 24/7 Emergency Department, Surgery Center, Imaging Center, Laboratory, Wound Care Center, TherapyPlus, Center for Pain Medicine and physician offices. The new location has surpassed our expectations and we anticipate that patient volume will only continue to grow. Partner Connection will keep you updated on the progress of these very important initiatives along with many others throughout the year.
