New Cardiothoracic Surgeon Joins Shawnee Mission Medical Center

MERRIAM, Kan. – Clarke Henry, Jr., MD, cardiothoracic surgeon, joined the Shawnee Mission Medical Center (SMMC) medical staff on March 30. Henry earned his medical degree from the University of Kansas Medical Center and completed his internship, fellowship and residencies at Vanderbilt University Affiliated Hospitals. He is Board-certified in Surgery and Thoracic Surgery.

For the last 20 years, Henry has practiced at Cardiovascular Surgery, Inc. (St. Joseph Medical Center affiliate), in Kansas City, Mo. Henry joins the nationally recognized physicians of the SMMC Heart and Vascular Center where technology, medical expertise and compassion come together to provide exceptional cardiac care.

According to Administrative Director of Heart & Vascular Services Pamela Shute, Henry will help bring SMMC’s current heart and vascular program to the next level. “The Heart & Vascular Center at Shawnee Mission Medical Center includes nationally recognized physicians, state-of-the-art equipment, a dedicated interdisciplinary team, clinical nurse specialists and cardiac nurse practitioners, along with other clinicians and associates who focus on quality care and exceptional patient and family experiences,” Shute said. “Dr. Henry will further enhance our long-standing tradition of providing the highest level of cardiac care.”
