Bacon named CEO for Shawnee Mission Medical Center

Ken-Bacon-LOResMERRIAM, Kan. – Ken Bacon has been named President and Chief Executive Officer of Shawnee Mission Medical Center (SMMC) and Regional CEO of the Mid America Region of Adventist Health System effective the week of April 23, 2012.  Bacon is currently the Chief Executive Officer at Littleton Adventist Hospital in Littleton, Colorado.  Both hospitals are members of Adventist Health System.

“The community representatives on Shawnee Mission Medical Center’s Board of Trustees were honored to participate in the CEO search and selection process,” said Tim Rogers, SMMC Board Vice Chairman. “We have tremendous faith in Ken and his ability to lead our hospital so that we continue Shawnee Mission Medical Center’s tradition of excellence.”

Shawnee Mission Medical Center Welcomes New Cardiology Group

MERRIAM, Kan. – Building on the strength of its existing cardiology team, Shawnee Mission Medical Center (SMMC) welcomed Heart Health, PA (HHP), November 1. Through this partnership, the HHP locations in Leavenworth and Kansas City, Kan., along with several outreach clinics, have become Shawnee Mission Cardiology Associates.

75th Street Exit to Temporarily Close for Construction

MERRIAM, Kan. – The exit ramp to 75th Street from northbound I-35 will temporarily close beginning Monday, March 19, at 9 a.m. due to road construction. Crews will complete tie-in work to the new 75th Street collector-distributor ramp system, which includes the existing "tunnel to nowhere." The project is expected to take 90 days and the ramp will re-open on June 20, weather permitting.

Wagner Named Interim CEO for Shawnee Mission Medical Center

Shawnee Mission, KS –- Jack Wagner has been appointed by Adventist Health System as the interim President/CEO for Shawnee Mission Medical Center. Wagner, who currently serves as the Chief Financial Officer for Shawnee Mission Medical Center,  will officially begin dual responsibilities at the 504-bed facility on Monday, December 5, 2011 and will remain in the position until a permanent replacement is found.
