Meet the Breast Center Staff
Charlene Wallace, RN, MS, OCN - Breast Center Manager
Wallace is the Director of the Center for Women’s Health and Breast Center at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. Since she began her career, she has been devoted to women’s health and education. During the past 20 years Wallace has held various positions that focus on breast health from screening and diagnosis to treatment and survivorship. Her goals are to save lives through education, screening and early detection and to provide individualized, compassionate care to every patient. Wallace has a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Marymount College and a master’s degree in adult education from Kansas State University. She is a member of the Oncology Nursing Society and has been an Oncology Certified Nurse since 1995. She has been a member of the National Consortium of Breast Centers since 1998.
Dawn Linneman, RN, BSN, OCN - Nurse Navigator
A late-bloomer, Linneman graduated from Johnson County Community College Nursing program at the age of 42. She began working in 2003 on the Oncology Unit at Shawnee Mission Medical Center and obtained her Oncology Nurse Certification in 2006. In 2007, she moved to the Breast Center as a Nurse Navigator to focus on patient education and advocacy. Desiring more education to enhance her nursing experience, Linneman graduated from UMKC in 2009 with her Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing. Along with cancer care and advocacy, Linneman has experience in chemotherapy, palliative care and hospice. At the Breast Center she also facilitates the Early Detection Works program, which provides uninsured women access to cancer screening services.
