We help you take the right steps to promote wellness
Wellness involves more than just the absence of disease. It is an active process
of becoming aware and making choices toward a healthy and fulfilling life. At Shawnee Mission Health (SMH), we are committed to help pave the way to your optimal wellness by incorporating all aspects of health: physical, emotional, spiritual and social. Our goal is to help you achieve and maintain wellness for a healthy, happy life. Here’s how:
First, we encourage you to find a primary care provider (PCP) with whom you can trust and build a relationship. PCPs focus on prevention – a critical component of wellness. They also make sure immunizations are up to date, keep records of medications, order routine lab work, maintain schedules for tests and address lifestyle factors, including exercise and nutrition. Find a PCP or call the ASK-A-NURSE Resource Center at 913-676-7777.
Talk with your PCP about SMH classes and programs that would be of benefit to you. Sign up and start taking a proactive role in your personal wellness and the health of your family.
