If you have a general anesthetic (you’re completely asleep during surgery), you must have someone stay with you 12-24 hours after you return home. You must also refrain from driving for 24 hours.
If you have a regional anesthetic (you’re medicated, but still awake during surgery), someone should stay with you for at least 12 hours after discharge.
The day after surgery, we will call you to see how you are doing and answer any questions you may have.
At the Hospital
If you are hospitalized following your surgery, the coordinator will let your family know when you are transferred to your room.
The nursing staff will have complete information about your condition and care.
