Shawnee Mission Medical Center offers a variety of support services for those needing personal, emotional or medical assistance. For more information about any of our support groups, call the ASK-A-NURSE Resource Center at 913-676-7777.

ALS Support Group
Meets the third Wednesday of each month at 2 p.m. and the first Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m.

Breast Cancer Support Group
Meets the second Tuesday of each month from 1:30 - 3 p.m.

Breastfeeding Support Group
Meets every Tuesday from 10 - 11:30 a.m.

Live Well With Diabetes Support Group
This lunch group meets the first Thursday of each month from 11 a.m. - noon.

Crohn’s & Colitis Support Group
Meets the second Monday of each month from 7 - 8:30 p.m.

Living with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD)
Participants in this class will learn about breathing techniques, treatments, preventing complications, when to call the doctor and why exercise is important.

Grief Recovery Support Group

Multiple Sclerosis Support Group
Meets the third Thursday of each month from 7 - 9 p.m.

Perinatal Bereavement Support Group
Meets the first and third Thursdays of each month from 7-8:30 p.m.

Pregnancy After a Loss Support Group
Meets the second Thursday of each month from 7-8:30 p.m. in the Tapestry Room.

Stroke Support – One Day at a Time
Meets the fourth Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m.

Survivors of Suicide Support Group
Meets second and fourth Tuesdays of the month from 6:30-8:00 p.m. in Life Dynamics room 12.

Need some help trying to make sense of it all? Know that you are not alone. If you have lost someone to suicide, the first thing you should know is there are others feeling the same devastating loss, pain, and bewilderment you are.
