Emergency Medical Services
Shawnee Mission Medical Center has the busiest emergency room in Johnson County, including an accredited Chest Pain Center. SMMC has nearly 50,000 emergency room visits each year.
When you come to the Emergency Department, you’re looking for immediate attention. That makes it difficult to wait – especially if you’re hurting or uncomfortable.
At Shawnee Mission Medical Center, we strive to provide exceptional emergency medical care that’s delivered quickly and efficiently.
As new patients arrive in our Emergency Department, the Triage Nurse assesses each person’s condition. This assessment – or triage – helps determine the order in which you’re seen in the Emergency Department.
Everyone arrives at the Emergency Department with unique problems and needs. One person may be near death; another may be fighting a nasty cold. And of course, there are an infinite number of injuries and illnesses in between.
