Domestic violence is the single largest cause of injury to women in the U.S and 36 percent of emergency room visits by women are for injuries caused by battering. One in eight women in Kansas have suffered sexual violence and more than 77 percent of the time the attacker knows their victim.
The FACT program at SMMC provides care and support to anyone who has suffered abuse. The tools and resources offered by the program can help patients move forward after such a serious and often devastating event.
If you have questions, or have suffered any kind of physical abuse or sexual assault, call FACT at 913-676-7500 or seek emergent care in our Emergency Department.
