At the Britain Center, we recognize the importance of a child’s ability to communicate with the people in his or her world. Children learn at an early age that communication will allow them to control their environment. Whether communication is choosing a toy by using eye gaze, or learning to pronounce the name of the toy, children are empowered by their ability to request objects or actions from others. As children vary in motor and cognitive skills, communication will also vary. Speech therapy is play based and designed to make communication enjoyable for children. It can include individual or group opportunities to practice interacting through the use of eye gaze, gesture, sign language, touching pictures or speaking.
