Shawnee Mission Medical Center and the Prairie Star Surgery Center will now be listed on DocFind®, Aetna’s online provider directory. Aetna is a national health insurance and related benefits provider. Reviews of designations are performed by Aetna every two years.

In addition, CIGNA has awarded SMMC designation as a CIGNA 3 Star Quality Bariatric Center. Among clinical excellence requirements to receive this designation, a Bariatric Center must also have Level One Full Approval from the American College of Surgeons (ACS) Bariatric Surgery Center Network (BSCN) and/or Full Approval from the Surgical Review Corporation (SRC). Reviews of designations are performed by CIGNA every three years.
